![]() The different forms of concealed penis include webbed penis, congenital megaprepuce and partially hidden penis caused by prepubic adiposity. Micropenis can be defined as 'true micropenis'-which results from a defect in the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis-and 'micropenis secondary to congenital anatomical anomalies of the surrounding and overlying structures'-also known as 'concealed penis'. The term 'inconspicuous penis' refers to a group of anatomical abnormalities in which the penis looks smaller than is expected. Although the ease of the HM repair for minor webbing is acknowledged, Z scrotoplasty is the authors' preference for repair given its ability to address the most severe webbing. In this comparison of three surgical techniques for the correction of PSW, it was demonstrated that each choice is safe, with no option showing a significant difference in complication rate. This single-surgeon series highlighted that amongst the patients who underwent one of the three described techniques (HM, VY or Z scrotoplasty), there were no significant postoperative differences in complications or parent satisfaction. Although it is felt that the severity of the defect may not impact on the operative technique for repair of PSW, data comparing these techniques is lacking. CONCLUSIONS: Congenital penoscrotal webbing is a common condition that often requires pediatric urology consultation.A variant of Robinow syndrome, associated with osteosclerosis and caused by a heterozygous pathogenic variant in DVL1, is characterized by normal stature, persistent macrocephaly, increased bone mineral density with skull osteosclerosis, and hearing loss, in addition to the typical features described above. When present, cardiac defects are a major cause of morbidity and mortality. Less common findings include renal anomalies, radial head dislocation, vertebral abnormalities such as hemivertebrae and scoliosis, nail dysplasia, cardiac defects, cleft lip/palate, and (rarely) cognitive delay. Therefore, cosmetic genital surgery should be considered even in male adolescents.Īutosomal dominant Robinow syndrome (ADRS) is characterized by skeletal findings (short stature, mesomelic limb shortening predominantly of the upper limbs, and brachydactyly), genital abnormalities (in males: micropenis / webbed penis, hypoplastic scrotum, cryptorchidism in females: hypoplastic clitoris and labia majora), dysmorphic facial features (widely spaced and prominent eyes, frontal bossing, anteverted nares, midface retrusion), dental abnormalities (including malocclusion, crowding, hypodontia, late eruption of permanent teeth), bilobed tongue, and occasional prenatal macrocephaly that persists postnatally. Overweight may be associated with a worse evaluation of one's genital and should be clinically considered to avoid related social problems in adulthood. Evaluation of the external genitalia is important in adolescents, and it is an understudied problem. ![]() Overweight was considered an important factor associated with a worse preoperative score. A postoperative score improvement was noted and patients with concealed penis and webbed penis showed a better postoperative outcome. The most frequent pathologies were webbed penis and penile curvature. During the study period, 137 patients were treated, and at the end of the study, 98 cases were considered for analysis. Patients underwent an evaluation test before and after surgery. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were created. We considered all patients treated for external genital pathology in the period of adolescence. The aim of this study was to investigate and report the role of surgery in male adolescents to improve the evaluation of their genitalia. Less is known about male adolescents and their genital satisfaction. Genital dissatisfaction is well known in female and adults.
